Hello Loves
Welcome to the
shambles that is my mind put down into words. Lets start from the
beginning.
Last April I was
sitting in a Law Lecture bored out of my brains thinking how am I going to get
through 5 and a half years of this torture, when a thought popped into my
head. Leave. Imogen just go far away and for long enough that when you do come
back to study, you actually
will and the rein of procrastination queen shall be over (Dan Howell eat your
heart out).
So that’s when it
started, I went to the shops, got myself some travel brochures, and began
planning the trip of a lifetime.
I can’t exactly say
what made me choose to move to London instead of just a holiday, I think it
comes down to being so incredibly bored in my mundane Adelaide life that a
holiday just wouldn’t have done the trick, I needed more.
The plan was in
motion; Plane tickets were, extremely prematurely, booked (like I’m talking 12
months in advance). University was changed from full time, to part time,
because lord knows I would never have been able to save AND study
simultaneously!
One thing I find funny
about life is time. Time is constantly moving at the exact same pace, day after
day, year after year. However when we’re excited about an event, time seems to
move at a glacial pace. Yet I wasn’t just excited, I was also (excuse my
French) shitting my pants at the forthcoming date of my departure. So my fickle
friend time decided to not only go incredibly slow, but also shoot past so the
next thing I knew, it was March 13th, in Adelaide Airport bidding
all my closest family and friends adieu (did that make sense? Not probably not,
but oh well on we go).
And then here I am,
two weeks into my journey. I’ve recently been thinking of the phrase, “Life is
what happens when your busy making plans”. This basically sums up 2013 for me;
I’m making it my personal goal to not let 2014 be a year of waiting for
something exciting to happen but to let the journey be.
Imogen xxx
